Muse are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of Matt Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Wolstenholme (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums). They are known for their energetic live performances and their fusion of many music genres, including space rock, progressive rock, alternative rock, hard rock, electronica, and classical music.
Muse have released nine studio albums: Showbiz (1999), Origin of Symmetry (2001), Absolution (2003), Black Holes and Revelations (2006), The Resistance (2009), The 2nd Law (2012), Drones (2015), Simulation Theory (2018), and Will of the People (2022). They have also issued five live albums: Hullabaloo Soundtrack (2002), HAARP (2008), Live at Rome Olympic Stadium (2013), Drones World Tour (2018) and Simulation Theory Film (2020). Their most recent album, Will of the People, was released on 26 August 2022.
Black Holes and Revelations earned the band a Mercury Prize nomination and a third place finish in the NME Albums of the Year list for 2006. Muse have won numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, winning the Grammys for Best Rock Album for The Resistance and Drones, two Brit Awards, winning Best British Live Act twice, five MTV Europe Music Awards and eight NME Awards. In 2012 the band received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. As of June 2016, Muse had sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
